Built in 1868, the Sunderland Old Town Hall was originally named Lincoln Hall and housed the town offices and the high school. Over the years the building had several municipal functions and was utilized by various educational and community groups. Our customers recall having dance recitals on the stage, attending town meetings, playing basketball in the old gym (now our basement storage area and new bar/lounge area on the first floor). One customer who was celebrating an anniversary told us “we got our marriage license 50 years ago right there in the kitchen.” The kitchen used to house the town offices. The building, once a hub of community life, holds many fond memories for the folks of Sunderland and we are more than pleased to have saved a historic building and created a new community meeting place.
